Maxime Renaux to Miss MXGP of Finland to Focus on Recovery

Unfortunately, the list of injuries and absences in the MXGP paddock keeps growing.
This week, it’s been confirmed that Jeffrey Herlings, David Braceras, and Ferruccio Zanchi—who’s now officially out for the rest of the year—will not be lining up for the Grand Prix of Finland. And now, another big name has been added to that list: Maxime Renaux.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP rider has decided to sit out this weekend’s race to fully focus on his recovery before returning to competition. At this stage, there’s still no set date for his comeback.

Renaux was one of the standout riders at the start of the season, taking the overall win at the opening round in Argentina. However, his momentum came to a halt after suffering a wrist injury that affected his performance in the following rounds.

Despite the discomfort, Renaux kept racing, trying to score points and stay in the title fight. But a heavy crash in the second moto of the Swiss GP made things worse, resulting in a hip injury that’s caused him significant pain in recent weeks.

In the end, the Frenchman has chosen to temporarily step away to focus on getting back to full fitness before throwing a leg over the bike again.
