After missing the previous round in Lommel due to a minor knee injury, Francisco García (Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki) returned to competition in the best possible way at the tenth round of the EMX250 European Championship held in Uddevalla, Sweden. The championship leader dominated both races to secure his sixth one-two finish of the season and take a giant step toward winning the title.
Both races followed a very similar script for the Spanish rider, who once again proved to be a cut above his rivals. On Saturday, he led from start to finish, while in Sunday’s race he had to overtake his teammate Jake Cannon in the opening laps before taking control of the race. Once in the lead, García set a pace that was impossible to match and cruised to another victory.
With this result, the BUD Racing Kawasaki rider now has six overall victories to his name—all achieved with a perfect 1-1 finish—solidifying his position as the dominant force of the season.
Second place overall went to Joe Brookes, who continues to demonstrate his progress in the category. The Briton secured his second podium finish of the year—following his result in Portugal—thanks to solid finishes of 4th and 3rd. Francesco Bellei rounded out the podium with a 3-4 finish.
Title Scenario post Uddevalla
The victory in Uddevalla puts García in an unbeatable position to clinch the championship before the final round in Turkey.
Next weekend, on the sand tracks of Arnhem, the Spaniard will need to score 13 more points than Nicolai Skovbjerg to be crowned EMX250 European Champion one round early.
The Dane, García’s closest rival in the standings, finished fourth in Sweden with results of 2-6. Although he once again demonstrated great race pace, his starts continue to be one of the weaknesses that prevent him from competing for victories more often.
