Defending Motocross of Nations champions Australia will head to Ernée, France, with a different line-up this year after Kyle Webster was ruled out following shoulder surgery.
The two-time Australian MX1 Champion was part of the winning Australian squad alongside Hunter and Jett Lawrence in 2025. However, both Lawrence brothers have already confirmed they will not race any events after completing their American season, and now Webster has also been sidelined.
Webster finished third in the 2026 Australian MX1 Championship despite dislocating his right shoulder during the AMA Pro Motocross round at Hangtown in early June while racing for Quad Lock Honda. He managed the injury throughout the remainder of the season before undergoing surgery in Brisbane immediately after the final round of the Australian Championship. The Australian is expected to be out of action for at least three months.
Who is IN for Team Australia?
While no official announcement has been made, current Australian MX1 Champion Jed Beaton is widely expected to secure one of the MXGP class spots, with CDR Yamaha teammate Aaron Tanti tipped for the Open category.
The MX2 position appears to be a choice between two promising young riders. Star Racing Yamaha’s Kayden Minear is considered a leading candidate thanks to his experience racing in the United States. Another option is Jake Cannon, who currently competes in the EMX250 Championship with BUD Racing Kawasaki. From a logistical standpoint, Cannon could be the easier selection, as Minear would likely require a rented motorcycle from Star Racing to the event.
