Team Guide: 2026 Motocross of Nations | Updates

The countdown is underway for the 79th edition of the Motocross of Nations, set to take place from 2–4 October 2026 at Circuit Raymond Demy in Ernée, France.

This page will be continuously updated as national federations confirm their line-ups for the sport’s most prestigious team event. Teams are listed according to their finishing positions from the previous edition, while the notes section provides the latest information, announcements and developments surrounding each selection.

🇦🇺 AUSTRALIA

Last year result: 1st

Team Australia enters the event as the defending champion nation but will field an entirely new line-up in 2026. Hunter Lawrence and Jett Lawrence have both withdrawn due to scheduling commitments, while Kyle Webster has been ruled out following shoulder surgery.

Jed Beaton, Alex Larwood, and Aaron Tanti will be defending the title. This will be the first time any of them have been selected for the team. This is the first Australian team to feature three rookies since 1997. Beaton and Larwood won the national motocross titles in the MX1 and MX2 classes, respectively.

🇺🇸 UNITED STATES

Last year result: 2nd

Hymas will make his MXoN as well as his 450 debut. Kitchen will make his debut as well, marking the return of Kawasaki in the team since Blake Baggett in Lommel 2012. Meanwhile, it´s expected to see Cooper Webb on the Team Tedder Husqvarna for the first time.

🇧🇪 BELGIUM

Last year result: 4th

Belgium will return with the same three-rider line-up that represented the nation in the previous edition finishing fourth overall. Brent van Doninck and Jago Geerts are the reserve riders.

🇮🇹 ITALY

Italy has unveiled a balanced lineup for the 2026 Motocross of Nations as the nation looks to add a fourth Chamberlain Trophy to its collection at Ernée, France. Zanchi will make his MXoN debut.

🇨🇭 SWITZERLAND

Jeremy Seewer will move down to the MX2 class for the first time since 2016. This change could prove to be key from a strategic standpoint.

🇪🇸 SPAIN

Last year result: 10th

Spain is fielding one of its strongest lineups in recent memory. Three factory riders, with the return of Jorge Prado, Farrés leading the MX2 World Championship, and Fernández among the top contenders in MXGP.

Reigning EMX250 champion Francisco Garcia and MXGP rider Oriol Oliver name as reserved riders.

🇯🇵 JAPAN

Last year result: 11th

Okura won the Japanese IA1 (450) motocross title, while Oshiro finished third. It has not yet been decided in which class each will compete. Last year, they finished 11th after advancing to the motos for the first time in nine years. Jo Shimoda will be unable to compete due to contractual commintments.

🇧🇷 BRAZIL

Last year, the nation secured an impressive 12th overall, led by the performances of Lopes and Santos.

Joining the returning duo in 2026 is Salvador Pérez. Although born in Spain, Pérez is eligible to represent Brazil through his mother and will make his Motocross of Nations debut for the South American nation.

🇪🇪 ESTONIA

Last year result: 13th

Talviku has been a fill-in rider for the Fantic factory team at several World Championship rounds this year and has achieved results near the top ten in the MXGP class. Kullas has just returned from the Canadian Championships with a second-place finish, whilst Leok has won a round of the German ADAC MX Masters and shown strong pace in Europe in the EMX250 class.

🇿🇦 SOUTH AFRICA

McLellan heads to France enjoying the best season of his career with two MX2 Grand Prix wins. This is the first time a member of Team South Africa has Grand Prix wins since former MX2 World Champion Tyla Rattray in the 2011 edition.

🇩🇪 GERMANY

The German squad will head to the event without two of its biggest stars. Ken Roczen is expected to miss the race due to contractual commitments in the United States, while reigning MX2 World Champion Simon Langenfelder has opted to focus on his recovery and is scheduled to undergo surgery once the FIM Motocross World Championship concludes.

This year’s selection reflects a slightly different approach from TeamGB Manager Mark Chamberlain who has put greater emphasis on giving opportunities to riders that have tested themselves in international competition and shown they can perform at that level.

Norway presents a very strong team! Horgmo has been pretty solid in MXGP, Tondel got a fill-in ride with Monster Energy Kawasaki in the US, and Gundersen has collected some top 10 finishes in the MX2 World Championship.
