Jeffrey Herlings (Honda HRC Petronas) delivered a flawless performance in the deep sands of Lommel, winning Saturday’s Qualifying Race and both motos on Sunday to complete a perfect weekend at Round 14 of the MXGP World Championship. The Dutchman led every lap he contested on his way to a commanding eighth Grand Prix victory of the season and the 120th win of his remarkable career, further strengthening his grip on the championship.
One of the biggest talking points of the weekend was the absence of Lucas Coenen (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). The Belgian was fifth fastest in Free Practice but ultimately chose to withdraw from his home Grand Prix, removing Herlings’ closest challenger and opening the door for the championship leader to extend his advantage even further.
The runner-up spot went to Kay de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing), who celebrated his recent contract extension with a pair of impressive second-place finishes. The Dutchman secured his third MXGP podium in what has been an injury-interrupted rookie campaign, once again proving his speed and sand-riding credentials against the sport’s elite.

Tim Gajser (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP) completed the overall podium thanks to consistent 3-4 results. The Slovenian returned to the podium at Lommel for the first time since 2020, while Romain Febvre (Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP) endured a frustrating day despite moving up to second in the championship standings. A mechanical problem in Race 2 proved costly, allowing Herlings to stretch his advantage at the top of the series to 104 points.
