WSX: Eli Tomac wins Canadian GP on his KTM Debut

Tomac WSX Canada 25 2

Round 2 of the 2025 FIM World Supercross Championship delivered a wild night inside Vancouver’s BC Place, where Eli Tomac put an statement debut aboard the Red Bull KTM, and Max Anstie´s streak in the SX2 class continues.

SX1: New Bike, Same Tomac

All eyes were on Eli Tomac’s Red Bull KTM debut — and the Colorado native delivered in style. Tomac won two of the three races on the night to claim the overall victory, taking the SX1 Sprint 1 and the Main Event. Only longtime rival Ken Roczen managed to stop him, edging Tomac out for the win in Sprint 2.

Tomac looked comfortable and in control all evening, a strong statement with just six weeks to go before Anaheim 1.

Ken Roczen extended his championship lead with a consistent 3-1-2 for second overall, while his PMG Suzuki teammate Jason Anderson showed impressive pace all night to secure third overall with scores of 2-3-4.

The Quad Lock Honda duo of Christian Craig and Joey Savatgy completed the top five, both mixing it up at the front throughout the program. Justin Cooper, making his final Wild Card appearance in WSX, salvaged sixth overall after a heavy crash in Sprint 2 erased what looked like a podium-caliber night.

SX2: Anstie’s winning streak rolls on

GSM Yamaha powered by Star Racing kept its momentum rolling as Max Anstie swept all three races — just as he did at the Buenos Aires opener one week ago. Three holeshots, three wins, and another dominant performance from the Brit, who led every lap of the night.

Behind him, Rick Ware Racing’s Coty Schock threw everything he had at the leader but ultimately settled for a strong 2-2-2 and second overall. His teammate Enzo Lopes matched that consistency with a gritty 3-3-3 to round out the podium.

Cullin Park (MCR Honda) impressed with three solid motos for fourth overall, while Kyle Peters (Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki) completed the top five ahead of teammate and local favorite Cole Thompson. The trio delivered some of the best battles of the night.

It was a tough evening for reigning champion Shane McElrath (Quad Lock Honda). Plagued by poor starts, he went 7-8-6 for eighth overall and now sits fourth in the championship, 31 points behind Anstie.
