WMX Arnhem: Guillén Takes the Red Plate as Van Drunen Wins Race 1

Daniela Guillén made the perfect start to the penultimate WMX round in Arnhem. The Spaniard finished second in Race 1 after a strong comeback from outside the Top 10, a result that puts her provisionally at the top of the championship standings.

The Arnhem Grand Prix delivered a major twist in the title fight. Guillén had a difficult start and found herself outside the Top 10 in the opening stages. However, the Lloret de Mar rider quickly settled into her rhythm and began working her way through the field.

Her main championship rival, Kiara Fontanesi, made a stronger start and climbed as high as sixth. The Italian then suffered a crash that cost her several positions, including one to Guillén.

By Lap 6, Guillén had moved up to third. She maintained her pace through the final stages and, with just two laps remaining, caught Shana van der Vlist to take over second place.

Fontanesi fought her way back and eventually finished fourth, also benefiting from Courtney Duncan’s final-lap crash.

The result significantly changes the championship picture: Guillén now leads the WMX standings by two points over Fontanesi, with just one race remaining at this penultimate round of the season.

The race victory went to reigning champion Lotte Van Drunen, who took control on the opening lap and led all the way to the chequered flag.
