The MXGP paddock heads to Arnhem this weekend for Round 16 of the FIM Motocross World Championship, and two major injury stories have already emerged before a wheel has turned.
After weeks of uncertainty, Lucas Coenen (Red Bull KTM De Carli) is set to return to action at Arnhem.
The Belgian has been sidelined since the heavy crash he suffered at Foxhills. Despite attempting to race through the injury, Coenen was eventually forced to withdraw during the Loket weekend before missing the Grand Prix in Lommel, where his home GP ended shortly after Free Practice.
Now, after an intense recovery period, Coenen appears ready to rejoin the championship battle.
The young Belgian has slipped to fifth in the MXGP standings and now sits nine points behind Tim Gajser in fourth.
Jeremy Seewer OUT
Jeremy Seewer will not line up at this weekend’s MXGP of the Netherlands in Arnhem. The Swiss rider from Van Venrooy KTM Racing Team is still suffering too much from the effects of his heavy crash during the Grand Prix of Sweden.

Seewer suffered a heavy crash during the opening moto in Uddevalla last weekend. While running around eleventh position, he landed on a rock after a jump and hit the ground hard. He attempted to take part in the second moto on Sunday, but was forced to retire after just one lap due to pain in his back and shoulder.
On Thursday, Seewer got back on the bike to assess whether competing in the Dutch Grand Prix would be possible. However, it became clear that he is still experiencing too much discomfort from the crash.
