The Motocross of Nations is just around the corner, with Ironman Raceway set to host the 78th edition on October 4–5. While the SMX Playoffs kick off this weekend in Charlotte and MXGP heads to Turkiye for the final three rounds, the Nations already has plenty of confirmed line-ups. Here’s a recap of the latest news.
Slovenia IN
Five-time World Champion Tim Gajser will lead Team Slovenia in their first-ever appearance on U.S. soil. He’s joined by standout privateer Jan Pancar (OPEN), who grabbed a top-three moto finish this season, and rising talent Jekaj Peklaj. Last year, Slovenia achieved its best result ever with 7th overall.
Sweden IN
Isak Gifting heads the squad in MXGP after winning the Italian Prestige MX1 title and impressing at his home GP in Uddevalla. He’ll be joined by Albin Gehardsson (MX2) and experienced national champion Anton Gole (OPEN). Sweden will look to qualify for the main program after narrowly missing out in 2024.
New Zealand OUT
For the first time since 2021, New Zealand won’t be on the gate. Motorcycling New Zealand cited a lack of rider availability and funding as reasons to “pause and reset.” The Kiwis have a rich MXoN history, with three podiums (1998, 2001, 2006), but fans will miss seeing names like Cole Davies, Brodie Connolly, and Nathan Crawford in action.
Hungary OUT
Hungary also announced its withdrawal due to the high costs of traveling to the U.S., a tough blow for young prospect Noel Zanocz, who will miss the chance to showcase his talent.
