The Belgian rider finished seventh overall at the 13th round of the MXGP World Championship in Loket, Czech Republic.
Jago Geerts’ transition to the premier class of the Motocross World Championship has been anything but straightforward. A series of injuries over the past few years has prevented the Belgian from showcasing in MXGP the same level of performance that made him one of the standout riders in MX2.
In 2024, Geerts missed a large portion of his rookie MXGP campaign. Last season, he showed flashes of his potential, including a victory in the qualifying race at the Lugo Grand Prix, but injuries once again hampered his progress. His best result was a sixth-place finish in Latvia before eventually losing his seat with Monster Energy Yamaha, the manufacturer with which he claimed 24 Grand Prix victories in MX2.
A new opportunity arrived through Beta. In his first season with the Italian manufacturer, Geerts has largely flown under the radar, struggling to break into the spotlight. However, the Czech Grand Prix may prove to be a turning point.
The Belgian delivered his strongest performance of the season in Loket, posting 8-9 moto finishes to secure seventh overall. The result also provides a welcome boost of confidence heading into a very special weekend: his home Grand Prix in Lommel.

With the MXGP rider market beginning to take shape for next season, performances like the one Geerts delivered in Loket come at an important time. The Belgian remains one of the most successful riders of his generation, with 24 Grand Prix victories in MX2, and if he can continue producing results at this level during the second half of the season, he could once again attract attention from several teams for the future.
