Febvre and Langenfelder MXGP World Champions in Australia

Febvre Australia 25

Romain Febvre clinched the 2025 MXGP World Championship in Darwin, sealing his second career crown — ten years after his first. The Frenchman set a new record for the longest gap between titles in motocross history, while also ending Kawasaki’s 27-year drought in the premier class since Sébastien Tortelli in 1998.

Febvre only needed a 16th place or better in Race 1 and delivered with a solid 4th. Lucas Coenen won the moto ahead of Jeffrey Herlings and Tim Gajser, but heavy rain forced the cancellation of Race 2, confirming the final podium. Glenn Coldenhoff secured 3rd overall in the standings, while Rubén Fernández successfully defended 4th against Herlings.

EPIC MX2 FINAL BATTLE

Drama unfolded in the MX2 finale, where Simon Langenfelder secured his maiden world title and the first for Germany since Ken Roczen in 2011. Kay de Wolf pushed the fight to the limit, winning the Qualifying Race and Race 1 to cut the gap, before clashing with Langenfelder in Race 2.

The German remounted after crashes, while De Wolf later suffered a mechanical issue just before the red flag ended the race early due to heavy rain. Langenfelder’s 6th place was enough to seal the crown by the narrowest of margins, despite de Wolf’s overall GP victory. Valerio Lata claimed his first podium with a 9-2, while Andrea Adamo took 3rd in the standings.
