MXGP Foxhills: Saturday Race Results & Highlights

Fernandez Foxhills 26

The MXGP World Championship reached its 12th round of the season at the iconic Foxhill circuit in Great Britain, where Saturday’s qualifying races set the stage for a crucial Sunday. While Rubén Fernández claimed his first MXGP Qualifying Race victory of the year, the championship picture also took an interesting turn after leader Lucas Coenen crashed out. In MX2, Simon Längenfelder capitalized on a late mistake from Guillem Farrés to secure the win, although the Spaniard still managed to gain valuable points in the title fight.

MXGP Qualifying Race

Rubén Fernández (Honda HRC Petronas) delivered an impressive performance to secure his first Qualifying Race victory of the 2026 season. After moving into second place early on, the Spaniard chased down teammate Tom Vialle and took the lead on lap five before pulling away from the field.

Romain Febvre (Kawasaki KRT) finished second after also passing Vialle, who completed the podium in third. Jeffrey Herlings recovered from an early crash to finish fourth.

Championship leader Lucas Coenen (Red Bull KTM De Carli) suffered a heavy crash on the opening lap and eventually retired from the race. As a result, he will face a difficult gate selection for Sunday’s motos, although he still holds a comfortable 61-point advantage in the standings.

MX2 Qualifying Race

Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) inherited victory in the closing stages after long-time leader Guillem Farrés (Triumph Factory Racing) crashed in a rut on the final lap.

Farrés had controlled the race from the start and looked set for the win before the late mistake. Nevertheless, the Spaniard quickly recovered and passed teammate Camden McLellan in the final sectors to salvage second place.

Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM De Carli) finished fourth after spending much of the race inside the top two, while Liam Everts (Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing) completed the top five.

Despite missing out on the victory, Farrés still gained valuable ground in the championship battle and now sits just 12 points behind series leader Sacha Coenen heading into Sunday’s races.
