Brian Hsu is set to make his return to the FIM Motocross World Championship after being named on the provisional entry list for the MXGP of China on September 12 & 13, where he will compete for JHL Factory Racing in what promises to be one of the most intriguing stories of the Shanghai weekend.
The appearance will also mark a significant milestone for the Chinese manufacturer, as JHL is preparing to make its MXGP World Championship debut at its home round. The project represents another sign of the growing ambition of Asian brands within the international motocross scene.
Reports suggest JHL intends to field machines in both MXGP and MX2, giving the company a valuable opportunity to benchmark its motorcycles against the established manufacturers currently competing at world level.
To spearhead its MXGP effort, the team has turned to Hsu. The 28-year-old German brings extensive international experience and will play a key role in evaluating the performance and competitiveness of the new Chinese-built machine in the premier 450 class.
Hsu’s return adds another layer of interest to a Chinese Grand Prix that is already attracting attention as the country continues to strengthen its presence in global motocross. With JHL joining the grid, MXGP will welcome yet another manufacturer into the paddock.
Meanwhile, reports suggests ZXMoto will not compete in Shanghai, with the company instead focusing its resources on a longer-term project aimed at entering the championship in 2027. Kove is another brand which is expected to make its EMX250 and MX2 debut in the coming years.
