Italy has unveiled a balanced lineup for the 2026 Motocross of Nations as the nation looks to add a fourth Chamberlain Trophy to its collection at Ernée, France.
The Italians arrive with a team that combines proven MXoN experience and emerging talent, hoping to replicate the success achieved in 1999, 2002 and 2021. Their most recent victory came on home soil at Mantova, where Antonio Cairoli, Mattia Guadagnini and Alessandro Lupino delivered Italy’s third triumph in the prestigious event.
Leading the squad will be Andrea Adamo, who is set to make his fifth consecutive Motocross of Nations appearance. The KTM rider has represented Italy at each of the last four editions and is expected to line up on a 450cc machine for the first time in his MXoN career after previously competing in the MX2 class.
Alongside him will be Andrea Bonacorsi, whose selection continues a remarkable run of consistency. Ernée will mark the Italian’s fourth straight appearance at the event, having been part of the national team in each of the last three editions.
The biggest storyline, however, belongs to Ferruccio Zanchi. The Ducati factory rider is set to make his Motocross of Nations debut after never previously being selected for the Italian squad. It represents a major milestone for one of Italy’s most promising young talents.
Zanchi has been sidelined since his heavy crash at Foxhill, but the expectation is that he will return for the final rounds of the MXGP season in Turkey, China and Australia. Those races should provide valuable preparation ahead of his first appearance in the sport’s most prestigious team event.
With Adamo’s experience, Bonacorsi’s reliability and Zanchi’s youthful potential, Italy believes it has the ingredients to challenge the world’s best and make another run at the Chamberlain Trophy in Ernée.
