It was a perfect day for the young Dutcham at the eighth round of the MXGP World Championship at Kegums, Latvia. Roan Van de Moosdijk and Thibault Benistant completed the podium.

Believe it or not, this was the first-ever overall of his career in the MX2 class. So far de Wolf was known for his flamboyant speed, but despite having some race wins under his belt, the overall was something to still fight for, at least until today. The Neestan Husqvarna rider remains perfect all weekend long as he was P1 in each session of both days.

The Sunday races were a little bit more difficult than the Saturday. In the first race, he was under pressure the entire race in the form of Thibault Benistant, though, he was able to keep the Frenchman at bay until the checkered flag. Roan Van de Moosdijk came in third after taking the holeshot, while KTM duo Liam Everts and Andrea Adamo rounded the top five.

The second race was a little bit eventful for the Husqvarna rider as well as for his teammates. Lucas Coenen, DNF after a bike failure, took the holeshot and led a good portion until a small crash. Laps later de Wolf was at the front on his way to his first-ever GP overall doing in style with a perfect 1-1 over his teammates Lucas Coenen and Roan Van de Moosdijk, giving the team Neestan Husqvarna the first 1-2-3 in a single race, and a 1-2 in the overall as Van de Moosdijk 3-3 was enough for second overall.

Andrea Adamo and Kevin Horgmo rounded the top five. Meanwhile, all eyes were on Thibault Benistant, who crashed in the first turn and made all his way to sixth place in really tough conditions under the rain.

Adamo was the Red Plate holder for one day. The Italian was ninth at the Saturday Qualifying Race, earning enough points to claim the red plate in the absence of injured Jago Geerts, but his time at the top of the standings didn´t long so much as he wanted. However, Adamo rode well to take fourth overall with a 5-4. He´s now 12 points behind Kay de Wolf.
