The Dutchman secured second overall at Round 2 of the MX1 GP Brazil Championship in Ponta Grossa, bouncing back in style with a race win in moto two.
Coldenhoff’s campaign in Brazil has taken a clear step forward. After a challenging debut, the Yamaha C6 IMS Racing rider delivered his first podium in the series and showed strong pace from the outset, setting the fastest lap in time practice early in the day.
In race one, Coldenhoff launched out of the gate in second and immediately went on the attack for the lead. However, a small crash just a few meters later dropped him down the order. He regrouped well and salvaged a solid seventh-place finish.
Race two — run together with the MX2 class — turned into a proper mud fest after heavy rain hit just before the start. Coldenhoff grabbed the holeshot and controlled the race from the front, riding a composed and consistent moto all the way to the checkered flag. The 7-1 scorecard was enough to secure second overall on the day.
The overall win went to Enzo Lopes (Honda Brazil) with a consistent 2-2 tally, allowing him to retain the red plate. He now leads Yamaha’s Vitor Borba by 24 points, while Coldenhoff moves up to third in the standings, 26 points off the lead.
The championship heads next to Castro, Paraná, on May 3rd for Round 3.
