BREAKING: Roan van de Moosdijk and HRC part ways

The transition to the MXGP class has been full of complications for Roan van de Moosdijk. First, the Dutch rider inked a deal with Fantic Factory Racing Team, but a knee injury in a preseason race in Hawkstone Park parted ways with the team just before his MXGP debut. Weeks later Roan got another chance in the form of Honda HRC as a fill-in rider for injured Ruben Fernandez. Unfortunately, the deal lasted just two rounds before HRC decided to leave him for the rest of the season.

In Riola Sardo, the first MXGP round of 2024 for van de Moosdijk, he pulled out both motos due to the high temperatures. Then in Trentino, he decided not to race due to the physical problems continuing.

Overnight I made the difficult decision to pull out of the GP. I didn’t have a good qualification race and I know my body and it just wasn’t feeling right, and I knew it was similar to how I was feeling in the pre-season and that wasn’t good for me. Now I have to get it checked out properly and once we get that information, we will make a decision how to proceed. A big thank you to all of Team HRC who have helped me these past couple of weeks and accepted my decision in a supportive way.” said Roan after the MXGP of Trentino.

Now HRC released an official statement announcing the departure of Roan van de Moosdijk, wishing the best of luck and speedy recovery.

Press release:

Fill-in rider Roan van de Moosdijk and Team HRC have mutually ended their relationship after further check-ups on the Dutch rider’s knee have revealed that it would be unwise for the #39 to race in the immediate future. Instead, v/d Moosdijk will take all the time necessary to recover from this issue, and then hopefully come back to the MXGP world championship where he can then give it 100%.

veryone at Team HRC wishes v/d Moosdijk all the best in the future and thanks him for the professional attitude he brought to the team in the couple of weeks he spent under the awning.
