Lachlan Turner has been crowned the 2026 AMA WMX Champion after surviving a dramatic final round at Ironman Raceway, where the championship fight came down to the final moto.
The Altus Blu Cru Yamaha rider arrived at the season finale with a 21-point advantage over Charli Cannon (QuadLock Honda), but that cushion was quickly reduced in the opening race. Cannon took the moto victory while Turner finished fifth, cutting the gap to just 13 points heading into the decisive second moto.
And the championship nearly turned upside down.
Cannon once again took control of the race and completed a perfect 1-1 weekend, putting maximum pressure on Turner. The championship leader, meanwhile, crashed during the opening laps and dropped all the way back to 17th position.
Turner refused to give up. The Yamaha rider launched an impressive comeback through the field, eventually fighting her way back to fourth place. It was precisely the result she needed to preserve her points advantage and secure her second AMA WMX championship.
Cannon finished second overall after her dominant 1-1 performance, while Mayla Herrick completed the overall podium with a 3-2 scorecard.
The weekend also featured a historic result for Daniela Guillén, who finished third overall in her AMA WMX Motocross debut. It was also the first professional race for her Wildcat Race Team, the new project led by the Locurcio family.
