Australian rider Jake Cannon will remain with Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki for another season, continuing his campaign in the EMX250 European Championship throughout 2027.
While his current teammate Francisco García has already secured a place in Kawasaki’s factory MX2 World Championship program, Cannon’s future will remain tied to both Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki and the EMX250 category.
Cannon joined the team at the end of 2024 and has steadily progressed since arriving in Europe at just 17 years of age. After finishing eighth in the final EMX250 standings last season, highlighted by a podium finish in the United Kingdom, the Australian has taken another step forward in 2026. He has already claimed two overall victories this year and has emerged as the main challenger to teammate Francisco García in the title race.
His development has also been evident in the French Elite Championship, where he has improved from fifth place to currently sitting second in the standings.
AMA Pro Motocross and World Supercross
Cannon is currently in the United States alongside Fran Carbonero, where both riders will line up at Southwick this Saturday, July 11, for the next round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship. In addition, the Australian will compete in the World Supercross Championship (WSX) later this season, gaining valuable experience as he continues to shape the next stage of his career.

However, his primary focus for 2027 will remain the EMX250 European Championship. Cannon, who will turn 20 in April, will once again represent the colors of BUD Racing Kawasaki as he aims to add more victories and challenge for the title.
Jake Cannon: «I’m very happy to continue for another season with BUD and Kawasaki, who gave me the opportunity to race in Europe two years ago. It’s never easy to adapt to new tracks, new people, different food and a different environment, but I have to say the team has always supported me. I’ve made a lot of progress since last year and I’m excited to keep improving. I now have more experience, and I’m confident that working in the same environment will allow me to achieve the best possible results.»
Stéphane Dasse: «We are very happy that Jake will continue with us for the 2027 season so that he can have another year fighting for victories. He is becoming more and more accustomed to racing in Europe, and we believe this is the right time for him to complete one final season in EMX250 before taking the next step in his career.
Jake will also compete with us in the World Supercross Championship in the SX2 category, as his future career could develop either in Europe or in the United States. He is a great person, a hard worker, and we truly enjoy having him as part of our team.»
