Extreme conditions defined the third round of the MX1 GP Brasil in Castro, where deep mud and heavy ruts pushed both riders and machinery to their absolute limits. After severe storms forced organizers to cancel all Saturday activities, only the main MX1 and MX2 motos were held on Sunday under brutal track conditions that caused numerous mechanical failures and retirements throughout the day.
Following the completion of the first motos, race direction decided to cancel the traditional combined Super Final between MX1 and MX2, officially ending the event early due to the deteriorated circuit conditions. Despite the chaos, Enzo Lopes continued his dominant run in MX1 with a third consecutive victory, while Glenn Coldenhoff added another important podium finish to the championship battle.
MX1: Lopes extends winning streak
Even the brutal mud could not stop Enzo Lopes. The Honda HRC rider claimed his third straight MX1 victory after controlling the race from start to finish in the only moto contested for the class.
A strong start allowed Lopes to secure the holeshot and immediately establish control of the race while carefully avoiding the deepest and most treacherous lines around the circuit. As many riders struggled simply to keep their bikes running, Lopes maintained a consistent pace to comfortably secure the overall win.
Glenn Coldenhoff finished second aboard the Yamaha C6 Banks IMS machine, crossing the line nearly thirty seconds behind Lopes but still collecting another valuable podium result for the championship. Third place went to Jeremy Van Horebeek from Honda HRC, who produced one of the grittiest rides of the weekend after losing an entire lap when his motorcycle became stuck in the mud for an extended period.
With three consecutive victories, Lopes now strengthens his position in the MX1 standings and holds a 29-point advantage over Coldenhoff, while Van Horebeek sits 32 points behind the championship leader.
MX2: Pérez keeps the red plate
Salvador Pérez got off to a great start in the MX2 race by taking the holeshot, but the challenging conditions quickly began to take their toll. A crash cost him the lead, and he subsequently faced further setbacks that dropped him all the way to fifth place, even finishing two laps behind the leading group in a completely chaotic race.
The victory went to Kawasaki rider Lucas Dunka in an emotional win as he returned to the top after spending more than a year out of competition due to a serious back injury. The podium was rounded out by Henrique Henicka of 595 KTM Racing and Pietro Piroli on a Honda HRC.
Thanks to the four heats he won in previous rounds, Pérez maintains the overall championship lead with a 12-point advantage over Henicka and Piroli, who are tied with 104 points each.
