Ken De Dycker has announced his return to competition for the one-off EMX Open event that will take place during the MXGP of Flanders in Lommel on August 1-2.
The Belgian rider, who claimed five Grand Prix victories during his World Championship career, has not competed since 2021. That season, he raced in the EMX Open event at Oss and, two weeks later, finished fourth in the one-off EMX 2T race held in Lommel.
Now, five years after his last competitive appearance, De Dycker is preparing to return to the famous Belgian sand track where he enjoyed many memorable moments throughout his career.
“This old guy has climbed back on the bike to prepare for the EMX Open at the MXGP of Flanders in Lommel. Will I still be as fast as I was seventeen years ago? Probably not. A few years older, a few kilos heavier, and a lot fewer training hours have naturally taken their toll. But that’s no longer what it’s all about for me. I’m doing this because I still absolutely love riding, because I want to have fun, and above all because I want to share this special experience with my family and friends. See you in the sand!
