The opening day of the MXGP of Afyon belonged to the Coenen brothers. Lucas Coenen (Red Bull KTM) claimed his seventh qualifying race win of the season in MXGP, controlling the moto from start to finish ahead of Jeffrey Herlings. Meanwhile, his twin Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM) earned his first Saturday win in MX2, leading wire to wire.
On a high note, Kay de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna) finished 2nd, cutting his championship deficit to just 10 points behind leader Simon Langenfelder (Red Bull KTM), who struggled to 6th. Spanish rider Guillem Farrés (Monster Energy Triumph) delivered a standout ride, storming from 8th to 3rd to secure a provisional podium.
