ACU on Team Great Britain Disqualified from the 2026 Motocross of Nations

The results of the 2026 Motocross of Nations, held on October 3-4 in Ernée, France, have been amended following the disqualification of Team Great Britain.

The British squad, featuring Taylor Hammal (MXGP), Ben Mustoe (MX2) and Ben Watson (OPEN), had secured an impressive seventh-place finish, their best result in five years. However, it has now been confirmed that Ben Mustoe’s motorcycle (pictured in the cover image) failed the post-race fuel inspection, resulting in the disqualification of the entire team.

As a consequence, Great Britain loses its seventh-place finish and is relegated to the bottom of the overall classification.

This is not the first time a fuel-related infringement has affected the MXoN results. A similar situation occurred at the 2018 edition, when Italy was disqualified several months after the event due to a fuel irregularity involving Michele Cervellin’s motorcycle. That penalty cost the Italian team its podium finish and, coincidentally, promoted Great Britain.

ACU Press release on Team GB disqualification

Both ACU and TeamGB acknowledge and accept the decision of Race Direction regarding the disqualification.

Motorsport operates under strict technical regulations. The ACU and TeamGB fully respect the role of the officials in ensuring those regulations are applied consistently and fairly.

There is no suggestion the irregularity provided a competitive advantage or resulted from any deliberate attempt to circumvent the regulations by either the team or the riders. There is no allegation of intentional wrongdoing, and we remain confident in the professionalism and integrity of TeamGB.

Nevertheless, compliance with the technical rules is absolute.

ACU and TeamGB are conducting a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the issue and will work closely with the relevant authorities and stakeholders to understand how it occurred and to ensure that it does not happen again.

ACU and TeamGB are naturally disappointed by this outcome, but remain committed to competing at the highest level with integrity, professionalism and respect for the sport.

We thank our riders, partners, team members, sponsors and supporters for their continued understanding and support.
