Tom Vialle will return to action this weekend at the MXGP of Montevarchi, the ninth round of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship, after missing the previous two Grands Prix through injury.
The French rider’s season was disrupted by a heavy crash at the start of Race 2 at the Grand Prix of Lacapelle-Marival. While he avoided any major injuries, the Honda HRC Petronas rider was unable to compete in Germany despite attempting a comeback and was subsequently ruled out of the Latvian Grand Prix.
Those absences proved costly in the championship standings. Vialle dropped from a promising third place to ninth overall, losing valuable ground in the title race.
After several weeks focused on recovery, the Frenchman has now been cleared to return for Montevarchi, a circuit he believes suits his riding style.
«After missing Latvia, I spent time in Italy to try and get back to 100% which took a lot of work, but I had a good programme and now I feel like I’ll be ready for Montevarchi. It looks like a track that should suit me, it looks a little bit like a French track on a hillside and hard-pack terrain so we’ll see how it goes. I won’t be putting too much pressure on myself as it isn’t easy to miss races and come back and be at the front right away. I’m just excited to be back racing and getting this second half of the season started off well.»
Vialle’s return will be one of the key storylines heading into the Montevarchi weekend as he looks to rebuild momentum and begin climbing back up the championship standings.
