Coenen and Farrés Dominate at the MXGP of South Africa
Lucas Coenen and Guillem Farrés emerged as the big winners at the MXGP of South Africa, Round 11 of the 2026 FIM Motocross World Championship. Both riders completed dominant weekends, winning both Grand Prix races in their respective classes and strengthening their positions in the title fight heading into the final stretch of the season.
MXGP: Coenen Extends Championship Lead
Lucas Coenen (Red Bull KTM De Carli) enjoyed another perfect weekend, winning both MXGP motos after already claiming victory in Saturday’s Qualifying Race. It marks the third time this season that the Belgian has swept all three races of a Grand Prix weekend.

Jeffrey Herlings (Honda HRC Petronas) finished second in both motos but was never able to mount a serious challenge for the overall victory. Reigning World Champion Romain Febvre (Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP) completed the podium with consistent 3-3 finishes.
Coenen now leaves South Africa with a commanding 68-point advantage in the MXGP World Championship standings.
MX2: Farrés Closes In on Coenen
Guillem Farrés (Triumph Factory Racing) secured his second consecutive overall victory with a dominant 1-1 performance at Terra Topia. The Spaniard led every lap of both motos and continued his impressive recent form in the championship battle.

Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) finished second overall with 3-2 results, earning his first podium appearance since his victory at Riola Sardo earlier in the season. Janis Reisulis (Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2) completed the podium in third after posting 4-3 moto scores.
Championship leader Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM De Carli) endured a difficult weekend, including a crash in the second moto, and finished fourth overall. As a result, his advantage over Farrés has been cut dramatically from 37 points before the weekend to just 14 points.
