MXGP of Germany: Saturday Results & Live Updates

Febvre Alemania 26

Saturday at Teutschenthal delivered two highly entertaining Qualifying Races, with intense battles in both MXGP and MX2 setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling Grand Prix Sunday. Romain Febvre claimed his first Qualifying Race win of the season in MXGP, while Camden McLellan capitalized on misfortune ahead to secure his maiden MX2 Qualifying Race victory.

MXGP: Febvre Holds Off Gajser for First Qualifying Win of 2026

Romain Febvre finally opened his 2026 Qualifying Race account with a hard-fought victory in Teutschenthal after leading every lap of a fiercely contested race.

The reigning World Champion grabbed the holeshot and immediately set the pace, but he was never able to break away from Tim Gajser. The Slovenian, who only confirmed his participation on Friday after suffering a knee injury scare in France last weekend, continued the impressive form he had shown throughout Saturday by relentlessly pressuring Febvre from start to finish.

After topping Free Practice and Time Practice earlier in the day, Gajser looked capable of challenging for victory on several occasions, but Febvre remained composed under pressure and crossed the finish line less than a second ahead.

Just behind the leading duo, Lucas Coenen and Jeffrey Herlings spent the entire race within striking distance, finishing third and fourth respectively. Their pace suggests Sunday’s GP races could feature another chapter in their increasingly intense title battle. Coenen’s result also allows him to extend his championship lead over Herlings to three points.

Andrea Adamo finished a distant fifth, leading a competitive chasing group that included Ruben Fernandez in sixth and Kay de Wolf in seventh.

Further back, Oriol Oliver recovered to 19th after being involved in a first-lap crash with Maxime Renaux. The Frenchman fought back to 14th, but both riders finished outside the points-paying positions. Tom Vialle’s difficult weekend continued as he retired after just one lap.

MX2: McLellan Inherits Victory as Coenen Stumbles

Camden McLellan claimed the first Qualifying Race victory of his MX2 career after early leader Sacha Coenen crashed out of contention while comfortably leading the race.

Coenen had been the dominant rider all day, topping both Free Practice and Time Practice before grabbing the holeshot and quickly establishing control at the front. However, his race unravelled when he lost the front end in a deep rut during the opening laps.

The mistake handed the lead to McLellan, who immediately settled into a strong rhythm and never looked back. The Triumph Factory Racing rider managed the gap perfectly to secure a breakthrough win.

Janis Reisulis inherited second place and produced another impressive ride, while Liam Everts completed the podium after successfully resisting sustained pressure from Guillem Farrés throughout the race.

Farrés eventually crossed the line in fourth, but the Spaniard emerged as one of the biggest winners in the championship battle after gaining valuable ground on both title contenders.

Coenen’s troubles were not over, as a second crash later in the race dropped him to sixth behind Mathis Valin. Meanwhile, championship leader Simon Längenfelder endured a surprisingly quiet Saturday at his home Grand Prix, finishing only eighth after struggling to feature near the front all day.

As a result, the championship fight tightens even further heading into Sunday. Längenfelder now leads Coenen by just six points, while Farrés has moved to within 10 points of the Belgian and 16 points of the championship lead.

MXGP: Gajser is back!

While Tim Gajser’s (Monster Energy Yamaha) presence at Teutschenthal was still up in the air as recently as yesterday, today the Slovenian dispelled any doubts in the most emphatic way possible: by posting the fastest lap time.

After suffering a knee injury during the last round in France, Gajser worked intensely throughout the week to speed up his recovery. His participation wasn’t confirmed until Friday’s qualifying sessions, but once on the bike, he wasted no time in proving that he remains one of the men to beat.

After leading free practice, Gajser confirmed his strong form in qualifying by setting a spectacular 1:46.398, a time that earns him his second pole position of the season since Riola Sardo. The Slovenian was 0.756 seconds ahead of Jeffrey Herlings, while Lucas Coenen finished third, just over a second off the pace.

MX2: Sacha Coenen on pole!

The Red Bull KTM De Carli Team rider continues to set the pace this weekend in Teutschenthal. After leading the free practice sessions, the Belgian once again imposed his pace in qualifying, clocking a time of 1:54.829—the only rider to break the 1:55 barrier.

The surprise of the session came from Janis Reisulis, who in the final moments managed to climb up to second place, finishing 1.175 seconds behind the fastest time and pushing Liam Everts down to third. The top five was rounded out by the Triumph Factory Racing duo, with Guillem Farrés in fourth and Camden McLellan rounding out the top five.

Meanwhile, Simon Längenfelder continues to struggle at his home Grand Prix. After finishing 13th in free practice, the reigning champion and championship leader placed eighth in qualifying, more than two seconds off the pace set by Coenen.

Everything points to the qualifying race offering a new chapter in the battle for the World Championship lead, as Längenfelder heads into the race just two points behind Sacha Coenen.
