Italian Prestige Motocross: Round 1 Ottobiano

Guadagnini Argentina 26

The 2026 Italian Prestige Motocross Championship gets underway this weekend, March 14–15, at the Ottobiano circuit, marking the first round of the new season.

Reigning champions Isak Gifting (MX1) and Valerio Lata (MX2) enter the opener under difficult circumstances as both continue to recover from recent injuries. Gifting was forced to miss the MXGP season opener in Argentina due to a shoulder issue, while Lata is still working his way back after a heavy crash in the second moto of the MXGP of Argentina.

With the defending champion not at full strength, several riders will look to capitalize in the MX1 class. Last year’s runner-up Jan Pancar lines up as one of the main contenders, alongside Mattia Guadagnini and veteran Alessandro Lupino, all aiming to challenge for early championship momentum.

In MX2, the battle also promises to be wide open. Simone Mancini, riding for Ducati, along with Nicolò Alvisi and Alexis Fueri, are among the riders hoping to disrupt Lata’s hold on the category.

One notable change for 2026 is the event format. All MX1 and MX2 track sessions—including free practice, timed practice, and both motos—will now take place on Sunday.
