Jeffrey Herlings and Sacha Coenen wins the Qualyfing Races at the MXGP of Frauenfeld, Switzerland, for Round 3 of the 2026 MXGP World Championship. This is the first win and saturday points for Herlings, as Sacha is now three out of three qualy wins. However, Lucas Coenen and Camden McLellan keeps the red plate.

MXGP: Herlings returns to the top on Saturday

Jeffrey Herlings (Honda HRC Petronas) ended his run of difficult Saturdays in style, taking a commanding qualifying race victory. The Dutchman passed holeshot winner Andrea Adamo (Red Bull KTM), who led the opening four laps before dropping back to finish fourth.

Lucas Coenen (Red Bull KTM De Carli) secured second place, closing the gap late on but never quite getting into attacking range. Still, the Belgian retains the red plate with a 7-point advantage over Herlings. Tim Gajser (Monster Energy Yamaha) completed the podium after also moving past Adamo early in the race.

Maxime Renaux (Monster Energy Yamaha) finished fifth, followed by Kay de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna). Romain Febvre (Kawasaki KRT) had been in podium contention before a mistake dropped him to seventh. His teammate Pauls Jonass was eighth, while Alberto Forato (Fantic) scored his first Saturday points in ninth.

Rubén Fernández (Honda HRC Petronas) completed the top ten after a turbulent race. Running inside the top ten early on, a pit stop dropped him to 17th before a late charge saw him recover, passing teammate Tom Vialle on the final lap. Vialle, after two crashes, finished 18th and scoreless, now sitting 22 points behind the championship leader.

MX2: Farrés fights back into the points

Sacha Coenen (Red Bull KTM De Carli) claimed his third consecutive qualifying race win, capitalizing on an early crash from holeshot winner Mathis Valin (Kawasaki KRT) to take control of the race. Guillem Farrés (Triumph Factory Racing) also went down on the opening lap while running third, rejoining outside the top ten.

Out front, Coenen led from there to the checkered flag, though he faced late pressure from Camden McLellan (Triumph Factory Racing), who had spent nine laps chasing Valerio Lata (Honda HRC Petronas). The Italian, fastest in qualifying, secured third place.

Reigning champion Simon Längenfelder (Red Bull KTM) finished a distant fourth, benefiting from mistakes ahead. Valin recovered to fifth after passing Liam Everts (Nestaan Husqvarna) late on. Farrés managed to salvage points with a strong comeback to seventh.

Janis Reisulis, Julius Mikula, and Karlis Reisulis completed the top ten.

Heading into Sunday, McLellan retains the red plate with a 4-point lead over Längenfelder. Coenen moves up to third in the standings with 88 points, four ahead of Farrés, who now sits fourth.

Valerio Lata (Honda HRC Petronas) secured his first pole of the season with a 1:34.666, edging championship leader Camden McLellan (Triumph Factory Racing) in a tightly contested session.
