Race Results: Dutch Masters Motocross Round 1 Heerde

Herlings Almonte 26

The Dutch Masters of Motocross roared into life this Monday in Heerde, delivering a high-caliber opening round featuring many of the sport’s top names. With perfect sand conditions and stacked gates in both MX1 and MX2, the event offered an early benchmark for form as the international season continues to build momentum.

In MX1, Jeffrey Herlings proved untouchable on home soil, sweeping both motos with authority. In the opening race, Herlings led from gate to flag, but not without sustained pressure from Kay de Wolf, who set the fastest laps and closed to within a second at times. Each time, however, Herlings responded, managing the gap with precision. Defending champion Romain Febvre crossed the line in a distant third, followed by Glenn Coldenhoff, with the Ducati machines of Andrea Bonacorsi and Calvin Vlaanderen completing the top six.

The second moto saw a more controlled performance from Herlings, who quickly broke clear and rode unchallenged to secure a perfect 1-1 overall. Febvre again settled into second, unable to match the leader’s pace. Alberto Forato capitalized on a strong start to claim third, holding off the field throughout, while de Wolf charged from outside the top ten to finish fourth. Overall, Herlings topped the podium ahead of Febvre (3-2) and de Wolf (2-4).

In MX2, the spotlight fell on the Reisulis brothers, with Karlis Reisulis and Janis Reisulis splitting the moto wins. Consistency ultimately handed Karlis the overall victory with a 1-3 scorecard, while Janis rebounded from a seventh-place finish in the first race to win the second moto and secure third overall. Sandwiched between them, Kay Karssemakers delivered a steady 3-2 performance to claim second on the podium.

Reigning champion Cas Valk opened his campaign just off the podium in fourth overall, posting 2-4 finishes in a competitive start to the series.
