The Honda Racing Brazil rider is the new MX1 GP Brazil championship leader after a strong weekend at the Santa Cruz double-header, which hosted Rounds 5 and 6 between Friday and Sunday. For this event, racing followed a one-moto format per class, plus a Superfinal combining MX1 and MX2 riders.
On Friday, the Frenchman won both motos ahead of his teammate Jeremy Van Horebeek, closing the gap in the standings from 16 points down to just 6 behind Yamaha’s Fabio Santos, who finished 3-3.
Sunday saw Van Horebeek take the overall win with a consistent 2-1 score. Rubini delivered another solid performance with 1-2 finishes, enough to overtake Santos for the points lead. In contrast, Santos struggled, finishing 3-5, losing the red plate by a margin of 5 points.
The next round of the Brazilian championship is set for August 17th at Brumadinho. All motos will be live streamed for free, so be sure to check mx1onboard.com for the latest links, full race schedule, and all the updates on the series.
