Aaron Plessinger took redemption for what happened a year ago in Detroit and this time he managed to lead until the finish line en route to his first-career 450SX Main Event at the third round of the AMA Supercross series in San Diego. At the same time, Plessinger takes the red plate as the new championship leader just 1 point over his Red Bull KTM teammate Chase Sexton who finished 8th after being involved in a first-turn crash with Malcolm Stewart.

Plessinger becomes the third winner in three rounds, and the seventh KTM rider to clinch a 450SX Main Event win alongside Ryan Dungey, Marvin Musquin, Ken Roczen, Blake Baggett, Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton.

Cooper Webb and Justin Barcia landed on the podium for the first time this season, finishing second and third respectively. Behind them, things got spicy as Jett Lawrence came all from behind to get a well-served 4th place after an intense battle with Jason Anderson, 5th.

In the 250SX West Coast, Yamaha swept the podium in San Diego with Nate Thrasher from Yamaha Star Racing on top followed by ClubMX Yamaha´s Garrett Marchbanks and Thrasher´s teammate Jordon Smith who keeps the red plate. On the other hand, RJ Hampshire down to 4th in the standings 13points back after a sixth place due to a crash in the final lap while was in second place.

Jo Shimoda and Levi Kitchen filled the top 5 spots.
