Last time out in round two, Fernandez had a mixed showing in Sardinia at the deep sand track of Riola Sardo, with the Spaniard scoring 10 points on Sunday, after what was an impressive Saturday when he came sixth in the points-scoring qualification race. This followed on from his highly successful Team HRC debut, when he stormed to the GP victory at the MXGP of Patagonia-Argentina, taking his first ever race win and overall in the MXGP class, in what was a brilliant performance from the #70.
“Sardinia didn’t go to plan, but I’m still feeling good with my riding and I know that Switzerland offers another chance to get some good results. On the weekend off, I raced the Spanish championship, which I won, so that was a nice confidence booster as it is always good to lead laps and win races and just enjoy races without too much pressure. However, I know the competition will be tougher at Frauenfeld, but as my win in Argentina proved, I am capable of getting it done, and that will be the goal again over this extended Easter weekend”.
Due to his rough weekend at Riola, he dropped from second to seventh in the championship standings. However, he is not far away from the leader.
