The 2026 Spanish Elite Motocross Championship kicks off this weekend — Saturday, February 28th and Sunday, March 1st — in Calatayud, hosting the first of seven rounds on the calendar.
There are several storylines heading into the opener. Local favorite Rubén Fernández (Honda HRC) will use the event as his final pre-season race before traveling to Argentina for the opening round of the MXGP World Championship. The same applies to Kārlis and Jānis Reisulis, while David Braceras is set to compete with Triumph Spain before lining up as a privateer at the Argentinian Grand Prix.
Defending champions José Antonio Butrón and Adrià Monné, both representing TRT Motorcycles, return to defend their respective titles as the domestic championship gets underway.
