The final round of the Internazionali d’Italia in Mantova delivered clear takeaways as the Italian pre-season came to a close, with the spotlight firmly on the winners and one of the winter’s most anticipated debuts. In challenging track conditions, Tim Gajser and Simon Längenfelder emerged as the standout performers, each reinforcing their status ahead of the 2026 MXGP season.
In MX1, Gajser capped off the weekend with authority, underlining how quickly he has adapted to Monster Energy Yamaha. The five-time world champion showed strong race management and composure, leaving Mantova as the benchmark of the class. In MX2, Simon Längenfelder delivered another measured performance to secure the Internazionali d’Italia title.

Much of the attention, however, was also on Jeffrey Herlings, who made his long-awaited race debut with Honda HRC. While mechanical issues ultimately shaped his results, the Dutchman showed flashes of speed, solid starts and the aggressive presence expected from a multi-time world champion. Mantova represented a first competitive step in a new chapter for Herlings, providing valuable mileage and a foundation to build on as the season approaches.
