The 2023 Pro Motocross Championship commences this weekend at Fox Raceway, marking the first of 11 rounds in this year’s series.
A four-rider Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team has been confirmed ahead of the 2023 Pro Motocross Championship, with Jo Shimoda, Ryder DiFrancesco, Jett Reynolds and Carson Mumford to line up in 250MX.
Shimoda returned from injury for the final four rounds of 250SX East this year, and delivered promising form in the Pro Motocross Championship last season to finish second overall in the quarter-liter category.
Mumford was drafted into the outfit for 250SX West rounds as a replacement for the injured Austin Forkner, with the team now confirming that he will continue through the 2023 Pro Motocross Championship.
DiFrancesco made his professional debut last year in 250MX at Red Bud, scoring a best overall result of P8 at Spring Creek. He featured on the Supercross Futures podium twice this year, with a second place in Glendale and third at East Rutherford. Meanwhile, Reynolds will make his anticipated professional debut after previous attempts have been plagued by injury.
“We have been very busy at the race shop preparing for the outdoors,” said Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team owner Iain Southwell. “Austin [Forkner] and Seth [Hammaker] have been cleared to begin riding again this week.
“With Ryder and Carson joining us for the motocross season, we will eventually have six riders once everyone is back and healthy. We’ll start the series with Jo, Jett, Ryder, and Carson. Seth and Austin will come in when they’re ready. We have a local race to kick off the season, and it’s looking to be a nice day with a high in the mid-70s.”
