The Belgian national team has been forced to change the initial line-up of its team after Liam Everts was forced to withdraw due to injury. Initially the KTM Red Bull rider was chosen to fill the OPEN category spot, but unfortunately a violent crash at the Chinese GP resulted in a fractured C5 vertebra.

Everts underwent successful surgery in Shanghai and is already on the road to recovery. Therefore, Monster Energy Yamaha´s Jago Geerts has been called up to take his place alongside Sacha Coenen (MX2) and Lucas Coenen (MXGP).

Geerts suffered an elbow injury and collarbone fracture in qualifying for the GP of Argentina and had to undergo surgery. After a long recovery process he tried to compete in the rounds of Lommel and Arnhem, but his results showed a lack of rhythm in the face of his time off. A couple of weeks ago Geerts was in the final of the Dutch National finishing 2nd in the first heat but dropping out in the second.

This will be Jago Geerts’ fifth participation in a Nationals Motocross since his debut in 2018.
