Romain Febvre wins the MXGP of Sweden and extends the points lead

Febvre Uddevalla 25 2

Romain Febvre (Kawasaki KRT) returned to winning ways in Sweden ten years after his last triumph at Uddevalla—back in 2015 when he clinched the world title. This time, everything fell into place: the Frenchman dominated all three races of the weekend, leading from start to finish in near-identical fashion. More importantly, he stretched his championship lead from 9 to 41 points over an erratic Lucas Coenen (Red Bull KTM), who struggled with poor starts and a crash early in Race 2, finishing 7-12.

Jeffrey Herlings (2-2) and Calvin Vlaanderen (3-4) rounded out the podium.

Local hero Isak Gifting (JK Yamaha privateer) lived a rollercoaster weekend in front of his home fans. In Race 1, he battled Tim Gajser for third until both went down—Gajser was forced to retire while Gifting finished 17th. In Race 2, however, he sent the crowd into a frenzy by taking the lead on the final lap. But heartbreak struck just a few corners from the finish, when a mistake cost him what would have been his maiden MXGP race win.

MX2: Langenfelder wins

Two thrilling motos put Simon Langenfelder on top of the podium in Uddevalla. The Red Bull KTM rider charged from outside the top 10 to finish fifth in Moto 1, then nailed a better start in Moto 2 behind Thibault Benistant, whom he passed late in the race. His 5-1 scores were enough to secure the overall win, capitalizing on the inconsistency of his rivals. Andrea Adamo, winner of the first moto, slipped to eighth in Moto 2 but still salvaged third overall, just behind a steady Kay de Wolf (Nestaan Husqvarna), who had to come from behind in both races to go 3-3 for second overall.
