After two weeks in Indonesia, the MXGP travels back to European soil for round 12th of the MXGP World Championship on the hard-pack track of Loket, Czech Republic. Despite the track being completely different than Sumbawa or Lombok, the winners remain the same as Romain Febvre and Jago Geerts ended on top. However, the Red Plate holders of each class, Jorge Prado and Andrea Adamo, gain more points in the process.
The action wasn´t the main factor in both MXGP races. Romain Febvre looked to sweep both races after he took a wire-to-wire in the first one and was leading the second and final race, but a crash dropped him to fourth. However, that result was well enough to earn the overall victory. A triumph that taste a little bittersweet as Jorge Prado came second overall with a 3-2. Jeremy Seewer rounded the podium with a 2-3.
Calvin Vlaanderen take the win in the second race, but it wasn´t enough to get a podium spot despite being fifth in the first race.
Glenn Coldenhoff finished the day 5th over HRC duo Ruben Fernandez and Tim Gajser on his long-awaited return.
MX2: JAGO GEERTS GAIN POINTS
Jago Geerts grabbed the holeshot over Kevin Horgmo as Sacha Coenen squeezed into the top three. Behind them, there were two pileups, one in the first turn with Liam Everts going over the bars and the other one a couple of turns later that put Andrea Adamo behind the top ten.
Geerts and Horgmo pulled away from the rest of the pack. And in the final stages of the race, Geerts was under pressure from Horgmo, but a couple of lappers put distance between them letting the Yamaha take distance over the Norwegian.
Sacha Coenen, however, dropped to fifth after battling against Kay de Wolf and Simon Langenfelder, second and third respectively.
Adamo had an eventful race. After the bad start, he started to climb positions but then crashed again due to a block pass in the form of Rick Elzinga. The Italian worked his way all over again to 11th but was docked two spots due to a yellow flag penalization.
Adamo bounces back in the second race with a superb performance. The Italian started outside the top five but it was a matter of laps to catch his rivals. Simon Langenfelder was the early leader before Adamo passes him and settled in second. Jago Geerts rode consistently to third, enough to get the overall. Meanwhile, Kay de Wolf made a huge charge from the back to get 4th over an impressive Camden McLellan.
