Justin Cooper led a Yamaha 1-2-3 in Free Practice 1, followed by teammates Eli Tomac and Cooper Webb. In FP2, however, Hunter and Jett Lawrence put Honda on top with a 1-2 finish, also taking the top two spots in the combined times.

Hunter’s 1m28.730s was enough for P1 overall, just 0.236s ahead of his younger brother Jett in the final session of the day. Eli Tomac was third fastest, keeping all three riders firmly in the title hunt.

In the Unseeded group, Beta’s Mitchell Oldenburg was quickest with a 1m32.187, which placed him 13th overall.

Heading into tomorrow’s action, Hunter Lawrence carries the red plate with a 6-point advantage over Jett, but with triple points on the line, it’s essentially a winner-takes-all scenario. Tomac isn’t out of contention either — if he wins the overall while Hunter finishes third and Jett fourth, the title would be his.

250SMX Free Practice:

Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Seth Hammaker set the fastest lap time in both sessions, with a best of 1m30.695s. He was followed by Jordon Smith (Triumph Factory Racing) and Ryder DiFrancesco (Rockstar Energy GasGas). Title contenders Haiden Deegan (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) and Jo Shimoda (Honda HRC) rounded out the top five.

Daxton Bennick topped the Unseeded group, placing 11th overall on the combined sheets.

Shimoda currently leads the standings with a 10-point advantage over Deegan. The scenarios are tight: if Deegan wins and Shimoda finishes second, Shimoda would still secure the championship by a single point. That means Deegan needs at least one rider between them to claim the title.
