Jeffrey Herlings won both motos at the 79th Motocross of Nations in Ernée, helping the Netherlands secure third overall and moving up to second on the all-time MXoN moto wins list.
The Honda HRC Petronas rider enjoyed a perfect weekend, setting the fastest overall qualifying time on Saturday before winning the OPEN Qualifying Race. Herlings lined up in the OPEN class as part of a strategic decision that allowed teammate Roan van de Moosdijk more recovery time between races.
Despite choosing an outside gate position for Sunday’s races, Herlings was unstoppable. In Race 1, he inherited the lead after Tom Vialle crashed out and went on to win by more than 35 seconds. In Race 3, he recovered from an early mistake and a 15-second deficit, charging through the field before taking the lead with more than 10 minutes remaining and pulling away for another dominant victory.

His double moto win played a key role in securing the Netherlands’ 16th MXoN podium alongside Roan van de Moosdijk and Glenn Coldenhoff.
Individually, Herlings claimed his sixth career class victory at the Motocross of Nations, tying Stefan Everts for the all-time record. He also increased his MXoN moto win tally to eight, moving into sole possession of second place in the event’s history behind Everts’ record of 11.
«I definitely didn’t make things easy for myself in that last moto. I think I was like 15 seconds down after the crash, but I knew I had the speed and the time to do it, so I went to work. In the end I was able to make the move just past the halfway mark of the moto and pulled out a good gap to win. The first race was a lot easier and overall it was a good weekend and we continued the winning streak in Sunday motos all the way from the MXGP of Great Britain through today. The podium was always the goal for the Netherlands and we made that happen to, so happy with everything and a good way to round off this GP season.»
