The wait is over! The 2025 Boost Mobile Australian Supercross Championship gets underway this weekend with a double-header round in Redcliffe, setting the stage for another thrilling season. As always, a strong international lineup will challenge the country’s best talent across both SX1 and SX2 classes.
With reigning champion Joey Savatgy focusing on the FIM World Supercross Championship, the door is wide open for a new titleholder. Dean Wilson, the 2023 champion, naturally becomes the early favorite — but the Scottish star will face serious competition this year.
Wilson’s teammate at Penrite Honda, Cédric Soubeyras, is one to watch. The Frenchman is no stranger to Supercross glory, with multiple titles in France, and now embarks on an exciting new adventure for his AUSX debut.

Meanwhile, CDR Monster Energy Yamaha fields a powerhouse three-rider squad featuring Americans Mitchell Harrison and Phil Nicoletti, alongside local hero Aaron Tanti. Harrison arrives following a strong SMX season, while Nicoletti brings momentum after clinching the Canadian Triple Crown Motocross title.
Among the homegrown contenders, Luke Clout (Penrite Empire Kawasaki) looks primed to challenge the international stars. His teammate, multi-time AUSX champ Matt Moss, and KTM Australia duo Dylan Walsh and Nathan Crawford add even more depth to a stacked SX1 field.
In SX2, reigning champion Shane McElrath faces a tricky calendar clash between the Adelaide Grand Final and the Australian GP at the Gold Coast in late November. It remains unclear whether he’ll contest two, three, or all rounds — but knowing McElrath, expect him to fight for the crown regardless.

Honda brings an impressive lineup to support him, featuring Brodie Connolly, Tiger Wood, Alex Larwood, and Wilson Todd.
Other strong contenders include Ryder Kingsford, Jayce Cosford, and Lux Turner with Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha, as well as Noah Ferguson and Byron Dennis for KTM Racing Team. Add Rhys Budd from Penrite Empire Kawasaki, and the SX2 grid is absolutely loaded with talent and potential.
