There will be no shortage of explosive action at Sunday’s second round of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship, presented by AMX Superstores, as national motocross returns to New South Wales’ Appin venue following a one-year absence from the fixture.

PREVIEW MX1

The opening round of the Kawasaki MX1 Class in Wonthaggi delivered fantastic entertainment across the entirety of the two-day schedule, with both defending champion Kyle Webster (Vic) and Monster Energy CDR Yamaha’s Jed Beaton picking up exactly where they left off just one season ago. The two were dominant forces throughout the event, although a fall in the second moto for Boost Mobile Honda Racing’s Webster left him with a sizeable 22-point deficit on his title-rival Beaton leaving round one.

KTM Racing Team’s Nathan Crawford (QLD) and Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki’s Luke Clout (NSW) made the most of the Webster mishap, taking a well-earned P2 and P3 on the day. Wonthaggi was undoubtedly a dominant performance for the leading duo; however, for both Crawford and Clout, they’ll want to dispel that narrative quickly, and what better place to do so than Appin? Add in the fact that Clout is a NSW local with plenty of laps around the circuit, he’ll be looking to capitalise on some insider knowledge.

PREVIEW MX2

In the Pirelli MX2 Class, defending champion Brodie Connolly (Vic) was the standard of the field at round one, notching a 1-1 scorecard en route to a dominant day in the sand. At this stage, it’s looking good for the Polyflor Honda Racing rider, and though early in the season, the number 1 is looking fast.

Both Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha’s Ryder Kingsford (NSW) and NFAL Honda Racing’s Alex Larwood (SA) kept Connolly honest throughout the weekend, minimising the damage by claiming a solid haul of points. For Kingsford, he also is a local of the Appin region, and so he’ll be looking to utilise his knowledge in order to take down Connolly.
