Gifting has been managing a shoulder injury throughout the off-season, limiting both his riding time and overall preparation. After discussions between rider and team, it was decided early on that he would skip the International Italian Championship pre-season races, allowing him the best possible chance of being fully fit for the opening round of the MXGP World Championship in Argentina.
The focus was clear: return at full strength for the Grand Prix season opener. Unfortunately, that plan has now changed.
The immediate priority is recovery. Gifting will now continue rehabilitation with the aim of returning as soon as he can compete at 100 percent — or as close to it as possible.
The hopeful target is round two of the MXGP World Championship in Spain.
