With the 2023 season already finished, several rumors have begun to emerge, both in terms of signings and changes of structures. One of them has to do with the future of Wilvo Racing Team, the current “home” of the official Yamaha team since 2020.
Everything seems to indicate that the alliance between Wilvo and Yamaha will take different paths from next season. In the absence of confirmation, we can advance that the team led by Louis Vosters (Wilvo) will join forces with Fantic. The Italian brand -based Yamaha- is looking to make a leap in quality and prestige in the premier class after the multiple successes achieved in the European championships.
The new Fantic/Wilvo team will focus only in the MXGP category with its 450cc four-stroke models. A priori, the riders that would make up this new project would be Glenn Coldenhoff and Roan Van de Moosdijk.
Coldenhoff has worked with Wilvo for the past three years and has achieved very positive results together. The 34-year-old Dutchman will embark on what will be his tenth season in the premier class and his fifth with a new brand after previous stints with Suzuki, KTM, GasGas, and Yamaha. For Roan Van de Moosdijk it will be his first year in the MXGP class after four full seasons in MX2 in which he has 9 podiums and 2 race wins.
