EMX Riola Sardo: Race Results & Highlights

Carbonero Riola Sardo 26

Nicolai Skovbjerg and Moritz Ernecker takes the wins at the third round of the EMX250 and EMX125 Championship in Riola Sardo, Sardegna.

EMX250: Garcia streak comes to an end

Francisco García’s dominant winning streak came to an end in the deep sands of Riola Sardo, but the Spaniard still walked away with a strong second overall, maintaining firm control of the EMX250 championship.

The overall victory went to Nicolai Skovbjerg, who capitalized on two recovery rides from Carbonero to secure his first career overall win in the category.

Race 1 saw Garcia deliver another standout performance. Starting from outside the top ten, he quickly charged through the field and reached second place, closing in on leader Mano Faure. A small crash while attempting the pass briefly dropped him back, but the Spaniard responded immediately. After a mistake from Faure reshuffled the lead, Garcia regained momentum and took control in the closing laps to secure yet another race win. Skovbjerg followed him home in second, while Gyan Doensen completed the podium.

Race 2 unfolded in a similar fashion for the championship leader. Garcia was again forced into a comeback ride after an early crash while battling inside the top five, dropping him down the order. From there, he mounted another determined charge, climbing from 15th to 4th and even making a late pass on Doensen to salvage valuable points.

Out front, however, Skovbjerg made no mistakes. A strong start allowed him to control the race from the front and secure both the race win and the overall victory — the first of his EMX250 career. Áron Katona joined him on the podium in second overall thanks to a consistent 7-2 scorecard, while Garcia settled for second overall on the day despite his race win.

Further back, key championship contenders hit trouble. Jake Cannon failed to score due to a mechanical issue, while Be Tiburcio also left Riola empty-handed after missing Race 1 and finishing outside the points on Sunday.

Despite the end of his perfect run, Garcia leaves Riola Sardo still firmly in control of the championship, holding a commanding 50-point advantage, with Skovbjerg now moving up to second in the standings.

EMX125: Ernecker wins and extends the lead

Moritz Ernecker (KTM) took the win in the first EMX125 race after a fierce three-way battle with Riccardo Pini (TM) and Sleny Goyer (Yamaha).

Pini led for the first seven laps, but Ernecker managed to pass him to take control of the race until the checkered flag. Goyer, who was also in the thick of the battle for the win, was forced out of contention due to a mechanical failure, allowing Emil Zeimer to inherit third place.

Sleny Goyer bounced back in the second race with a crucial victory following his retirement on Saturday, regaining important points in the championship fight.

Moritz Ernecker took the holeshot and appeared headed for another win, but Goyer managed to catch up and make the decisive pass to claim the victory. Even so, Ernecker secured the overall win for the weekend with a solid 1-2 in the heats, his second victory of the year.

Riccardo Bauer also managed to bounce back after failing to score points in the first race, finishing third and limiting his losses in the championship alongside Goyer.

Consistency worked in Emil Ziemer’s favor, as he claimed the second step of the podium with a 3-4 finish, while Riccardo Pini secured third place with a 2-11 in the heats.

In the championship standings, Ernecker extends his lead to 32 points over Bauer and 39 over Goyer.
