Jeffrey Herlings and Rick Elzinga win the 2024 Dutch Masters of Motocross titles

Jeffrey Herlings and Rick Elzinga secured the Dutch Masters of Motocross titles in a thrilling final round in Markelo. Both riders fought until the final moto of the season to claim the titles due slim points gap against their respective title rivals.

Kawasaki´s Romain Febvre dominated the first 500cc race in Markelo followed by Calvin Vlaanderen. Jeffrey Herlings crashed in the opening lap but charged to third, which allowed him to keep the red plate by 7 points over Febvre before the final race. However, Herlings docked five positions due to the high engine noise, a malfunction produced in the crash. This situation put Herlings and Febvre tied in points before the final race.

In Race 2, Herlings dominated from the start while Romain Febvre made a huge charge from the last spot as he crashed in the opening lap. With that win, Herlings broke the tie by 3 points over Febvre in order to clinch the back-to-back titles.

On the other hand, Febvre took the overall via 1-2 over Calvin Vlaanderen (3-3) and Herlings (1-6).

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Rick Elzinga won a thrilling 250cc first moto. Elzinga went under pressure the entire race by his main title rival Gabriel SS24 KTM´s Cas Valk. Both riders rode away from third place Thibault Benistant. The Top 5 were rounded by Agard Michelsen and Max Werner. Meanwhile, Kay Karrsemakers charged from last place to sixth. With one moto left to conclude the 250cc championship, the difference between Elzinga and Valk it was of 1 point between them.

In the second moto, Thibault Benistant emerged with the win over his teammate Rick Elzinga who managed a clean second place to secure the 250cc title. Cas Valk titles hopes were vanished due to a early crash. Anyway, he finished third.
