Conrad Mewse will be back in the MXGP paddock as a wildcard for the Grand Prix of Lommel, on July 27th and 28th. The last time he raced a GP was back in April 2023, in Switzerland for the MXGP of Frauenfeld.

Many motocross fans have awaited Mewse’s return at the MXGP, as he showed some flashes of speed by beating Jeffrey Herlings twice this season in the ACU British Championship. Although, Herlings himself believes that Mewse could be a Top 5 guy:

“I wrote him a message on Instagram, I said you can be around 4, 5, 6 in MXGP. This morning I put two really good laps and I’m pretty convinced it would have been top 3 in MXGP and this guy beat me by 0.6! I don’t understand why he doesn’t ride GPs, if he takes the speed he has in England he would be top five.” said Herlings after the fourth round of the ACU British Championship back in July, when Mewse took the win followed by him.

PRESS RELEASE:  Conrad Mewse secures MXGP wildcard entry for Lommel

Crendon Tru7 Honda rider Conrad Mewse is to face the world’s fastest GP riders on one of the toughest tracks with a wildcard ride at the MXGP at Lommel in Belgium this weekend. The 25-year-old has already been testing his CRF450R at the track in the past week and feels racing the world championship event would be ideal preparation for the upcoming Hawkstone Park championship round the following weekend.

Officially dubbed the MXGP of Flanders, the event is on the punishing, deep sand circuit so should prove ideal preparation for Hawkstone. The British event is a dual championship featuring the Fastest 40 series – where Mewse has been undefeated this year – and the ACU British series where he is just three points behind five-times world champ Jeffrey Herlings.

Team principal Dave Thorpe:

“Conrad really wants to race the GP at Lommel because there is no better way to get ready for a race at Hawkstone than to get in the mix with the top GP riders at a track like Lommel.

“There is no pressure or expectation from the team to achieve any specific results, just to get as dialled in as possible before the Hawkstone Park round. At a GP there is a lot of track time with practice, qualification and the GP races so it’s a great testing ground. It’s testament to Conrad’s desire to be the best he can be that he wants to race on such a tough track against the GP riders in this one-off race.”
