Brian Bogers announces retirement after ten years in MXGP

MXPG Flanders 2022, Lommel, Rider: Bogers

After 25 years dedicated to motocross and a decade competing at the highest level in the World Championship, Brian Bogers has officially announced the end of his racing career. The 29-year-old Dutch rider says goodbye, leaving behind a legacy built on passion, perseverance, and hard work.

His career may not stand out for its numbers, but rather for his consistency. In 176 Grands Prix, Bogers collected six podiums and an unforgettable victory at Lommel (2022) — the result of relentless effort in an increasingly competitive environment often marked by injuries. In fact, his continuity in the paddock was anything but easy. At the beginning of 2024, when it seemed time to hang up the boots, fate gave him one last chance.

“A few weeks ago,” Bogers said back in time. “I was working for a friend in construction. I didn’t have a lot of schooling, but I know how to work hard. It was a friend and he helped me, because I also needed to train, and he allowed that. I have never had trouble with hard work, so it wasn’t too bad. I always worked hard, my whole life. I also don’t care about working hard, physical training or working for a boss.”

Without a team at the start of that season, Bogers began working at a construction company alongside a friend, determined to keep moving forward without losing his work ethic. Shortly after, Fantic Racing called him to fill in for an injured rider, and his solid performances earned him a full-time seat for 2025. Although his final season wasn’t his best, he still showed flashes of brilliance, such as a sixth-place finish at the German GP.

It’s time to say goodbye… My motocross career has come to an end, and what a journey it has been! I have been riding motocross bikes for 25 years of which 10 years mxgp. It’s funny that you start such a great sport just for fun, and later making a living out of it.

“Every rider dreams of being world champion ones but this I could never achieved, but on the other side getting several podium’s in mx2 and mxgp and even winning one, THE one in Lommel and being the best in the world for just one race feels pretty good, gives satisfaction and is nice to look back at. Thanks everyone for the great times!
