The Brazilian rider had initially renewed his contract with the satellite ClubMX Yamaha team. Even the confirmation had been made official by both parties through a press release, where the team had also revealed the renewal of Jeremy Martin, Phil Nicoletti, and Garrett Marchbanks. However, a rumor emerged that ensured the transition of Lopes to Star Racing, the official Yamaha structure. A priori it seemed to be just another rumor, although sometime later the Brazilian was spotted at the Star Racing training center, located in Florida, so it was only a matter of time before the agreement was formalized.
“I am super excited to join the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team for 2024. Growing up in Brazil, it has always been my dream to represent a factory team, and to make that a reality with the best makes me eager to work even harder. I’ve been training with Swanie (Gareth Swanepoel) and the team for a couple of days now, and it has been awesome. I know I have what it takes to win, and with the right team and program around me, the sky is the limit. I can’t wait to go racing!”
After a strong finish to his amateur career, Lopes made his pro debut at the Pro Motocross Hangtown National in 2018. Since then, he’s shown strength and has consistently finished in the top five overall in Supercross. The 24-year-old earned a career-best result in the 250 class last season, finishing just shy of the podium with three fourth-place finishes and a total of five top-five finishes to end the year fourth overall in the 250SX West Championship. Lopes looks to build on his forward momentum with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team in 2024 and to fight up front for a run at the title.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing announces the addition of Enzo Lopes to the 250 team for the 2024 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season. The popular Brazilian rider joins Nate Thrasher, Haiden Deegan, Jordon Smith, Stilez Robertson, Nick Romano, and Daxton Bennick to campaign for top honors aboard the all-new 2024 YZ250F.
