Disaster struck for KTM Red Bull Chase Sexton early in the first 450 SMX race when Justin Barcia landed on him in the first rhythm section. Despite neither of the two went down, Sexton pulled out into the mechanics area after complete the first lap in last place.

Moments later of the incident, KTM manager Ian Harrison offered an update about Sexton:

“Chase Sexton will not be racing this final race. He was landed on and he hurt his right hand. …It’s just disappointing to make it all this way, 31 races, and not be able to finish it out.”

This situation puts Chase Sexton’s participation for the Motocross of Nations on October 5-6 at Matterley Basin on hold. Remember that Sexton was picked for the MXGP slot along with Aaron Plessinger (OPEN) and Cooper Webb who a week ago was introduced as Chance Hymas’ replacement in MX2.
